The institution of the academic advisor is based on article 35 (Law 4009, Government Gazette A 195/6.9.2011) which states the following: “The advisor guides and supports students in their study programs. The Internal Regulation of each institution defines the rotational assignment of advisor duties to professors and regulates the more specific relevant issues”. The Internal Regulation of the University of Patras (3889/τΒ’/25-10-2019, article 45) regulates issues concerning the above institution.”».
The role of academic advisor is assumed by every faculty member of the Department, regardless of rank and position. Academic advisors undertake the guidance of new students and will monitor the students they take on from the beginning until the completion of their studies. The institution is mandatory considering that academic advising will contribute significantly to the success of students’ studies.
The distribution of students to academic advisors is as follows: The number of academic advisors is divided by the number of active academic advisors, thus obtaining the number of students per faculty member. The distribution of students is done alphabetically among the faculty members.
For the academic year 2025-2026, the duties of academic advisor will be assumed by Konstantinos Tsekouras, Konstantinos Kounetas and Nikolaos Chatzistamoulou.
