Since June 2022, the Department of Economics has been housed in its modern new building, located within the University Campus in Rio.
Study Room
The Department houses a reading/study room that contains copies of all textbooks used in the offered courses. The reading room is supervised by Mrs. Ismini Goudi, a member of the Special Technical Laboratory Staff (ETEP).
Study Room
To support the educational process and promote scientific research, the Department of Economics operates two laboratories:
- The main Computer Laboratory, which is freely accessible to all students on a daily basis.
- The Postgraduate Laboratory is available for use by postgraduate students.
University Facilities
Students of the Department of Economics have access to a wide range of central university facilities, such as the Central Library and the University Gym.
Library and Information Service
The Library & Information Center (LIC) is the main information unit of the University of Patras. It is located at the end of Aristotelous Street in the University Campus, to the east of the Civil Engineering Department building. Its spaces, collections, and services are spread across four floors. The building’s interior design and the distribution of various services follow modern ergonomic standards, meeting nearly all the needs of its visitors and users. The building is equipped with full network infrastructure and modern electronic equipment, and can accommodate approximately 400 people in its various study rooms.
The Library’s collections include a large number of books as well as electronic information sources. These sources can be searched and accessed through the tools and systems available on the Library’s website.
The LIC is an open-access library, and the right to borrow books and use its services is available to all members of the academic community of the University of Patras, as well as to any interested individuals, provided they hold a user card issued by the Library’s Loan Department. The LIC also offers users the ability to request articles or books from other libraries within the country or abroad through its Interlibrary Loan Service.
The Library & Information Center operates daily during the following hours: Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 21:00, except during the summer, Christmas, and Easter periods, when the schedule may vary.

University Gymnasium
The University Gymnasium is located on the eastern side of the university campus and consists of a complex of fully renovated sports facilities, including an indoor basketball and volleyball court with electronic scoreboards and bleachers, a fitness room, a gym equipment room, changing rooms, showers, and a sauna. It also offers high-standard outdoor sports facilities for both competitions and individual or team training, such as a football field with grass turf and bleachers, modern track and field infrastructures, as well as outdoor basketball and tennis courts.
The University Gymnasium organises a variety of programs aimed at members of the University Community, as well as internal championships.
